The year was 1896 and the leaders of St. Martin Parish, Louisiana wanted to attract financial capital to their community. They published and distributed a 64 page booklet which highlighted what made their community important and great.

Now, Little Paris Publishing has painstakingly restored and reprinted this 100-plus year old document. You will find many aspects of the original document interesting:

~Historic photographs of 38 community leaders and 13 important sites. ~Feature articles on 73 persons and mentions of 106 others. ~Period advertisements for 43 business establishments.

Notice the books new section. In it, you find valuable the 92 page annotated index of persons, which provides basic genealogical information (birth, marriage and death) on 74 persons, much on their family origins, and family cross-references. The featured sites also have a detailed index, and many sites related to featured persons have current photographs.

This book is must have for persons seeking a travel souvenir, a family keepsake, some leisure reading, or a historical genealogical and reference!

The cover includes the logo of Congres Mondial Acadien Louisiane 1999, with the permission of the organization. It should prove interesting to those genealogical and historical buffs who attend the massive celebration of Cajun culture and family reunions.
