Not I But Christ:

Watchman Nee well understood that laying a good foundation is essential for the full growth of a Christian as well as for the building up of the body of Christ. The apostle Paul exhorted young Timothy to "have an outline of sound words which words thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. Keep by the Holy Spirit which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted" (2 Timothy 1:13, 14 Darby). Such a good deposit of fundamental teachings on practical Christian living forms a sure foundation on which to build.

"What is man's relationship with Christ? It is not, as many seem to think, that we should try to walk in the footsteps of our Lord, imitating, following, and copying Him. True, the Bible does indeed charge us to imitate our Lord, but this is not the only charge in the Bible. Before we can imitate Him, there needs first to be something else. The command to imitate the Lord is not a single, independent command. To try to imitate Him will end up in failure all too often. The Lord is not like a copybook. Should you try to copy Him, you will discover how poorly you write!"
