40-DAY DEVOTIONAL

In the past I have found that people were content with just an intellectual knowledge of God that was provided for them by their church, denomination, and student ministries. Now, they want to know Christ intimately, experientially, and organically, and discover him for themselves. They want to draw their own conclusions about who he is by “doing life” with him and others. They have the attitude of the townspeople brought to Jesus by the Samaritan woman who said, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.” (John 4:42)

I am thankful for this trend and hope to help this generation flesh it out. Honestly, I believe this is more than a passing trend. I believe this movement holds the potential to change the face of Christianity in a very positive way that will bring glory to God. So, I am writing, teaching, mentoring, training, and counseling young fellow workers with the intention of sending them out.

That brings us to you and to this study. We have seen how a proper understanding of grace provides both the motivation and the freedom for this type of spiritual journey. As you will see over the next 40 days, this is how God intended things to be. God always planned for his children to know him first and then be changed by that knowledge. Grace is the starting point. We want you to know that as a believer in Jesus, you are free to experiment with expressions of faith under the lordship of Christ, the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and the guidance of the Bible. We plan to help you do just that. If you are a believer who is disillusioned, disengaged, and deconstructing, take forty days to find what your are looking for...the God of Grace.
